Some days this light will come on within 1 block of my house. Other days it will not come on until nearly 3 or 4 miles away. The manuals all say it is a malfunction of the Ford AdvanceTrac traction control system. OK, simple enough? Wrong. Too many possibilities for the average guy without paying at the dealership for a full diagnostic scan. How do I fix the traction control light from constantly coming on in my 2006 Ford Freestar?OK, you are right. This IS a malfunction of the overall traction control system. BUT%26gt;%26gt;%26gt;it's not just the wheel speed sensors. It also involves the ABS braking system, the throttle position sensor, etc. I had exactly the same condition on my 2005 Freestar. I asked all kinds of questions, I read all kinds of posts and blogs on the Internet. I started re seating all of the connectors on the underside of the van. I pulled each wheel sensor and ohmed them out. I pulled the main connector off the ABS block just under the driver-seat area on the bottom of the vehicle. All of these in vain. I finally decided to try the re-train method. I disconnected the battery for an hour. I then reconnected the battery, and took the vehicle for a drive. The light again came on after a short distance. I drove another 3 miles. I pulled over and restarted the vehicle. Now I drove again. No light!!! It turns out the system MUST be retrained after it does go through some sort of malfunction. OR you can take it to the dealer, have them ERASE the information and retrain it...you decide. It's been over a year now without any more "constant-on"...only the normal "flashing" when the wheels actually sense a wheel is spinning on the wet roadway. How do I fix the traction control light from constantly coming on in my 2006 Ford Freestar?

The traction control light on our Ford Taurus comes on when the car is operating on slippery surfaces and one of the wheels spins or skids more than the others. As long as all four wheels are turning at approximately the same speed, then the traction control system does not engage. We also have a switch on the instrument panel that allows the driver to turn the system off.
Unfortunately, if your system is malfunctioning, the only solution may be to take it in to a Ford garage for diagnosis and repair. How do I fix the traction control light from constantly coming on in my 2006 Ford Freestar?Hi, Your traction control is tied in to your ABS (anti-lock brake system). About the only thing YOU can do is check ALL the fuses and links (inside the car and inside the engine compartment), using a test light ($5.00), grounded clip, touch both ends of the exposed ends of the fuse. Make sure the plastic links in the engine compartment don't have a space between the metal band. You can also pull all the fuses and look at them. The other thing you can do is check the wiring to the brake sensors, they monitor wheel rotation. It's the wire behind the wheel, make sure it's clean and tightHow do I fix the traction control light from constantly coming on in my 2006 Ford Freestar?
have your brakes check abs sensor might be bad
If the brakes have been replaced in the recent past they may have accidentally pulled on one of the wires that go to the ABS sensors and made for an intermittent connection.I would at least raise it up,remove one wheel at a time, and look at the wiring and connector at the frame very carefully. How do I fix the traction control light from constantly coming on in my 2006 Ford Freestar?
