How can I get more horse power into my 1981 Ford Fairmont Futura for the least amount of money?

I just perchased a 1981 Ford Fairmont Futura for $300. And it has a lot of potential to be a nice car. But the acceleration is killing me. My title says it has only 32 horse power. If that is true, I really need to know some cheap ways to help increase my cars horse power. If you know anything that may help, Please let me know. The only way to get more hp from that engine is a turbo. You can waste a lot of money on small stuff, but your 2.3 liter 4 cyl will really respond to a turbo. Yeah there is something wrong there. even the straight 6 had more power then that. the straight six produced at the rear wheels 80 HP. I would first run a compression check on the engine and see what you have. It's possible the motor is just plain worn out and needs to be rebuilt or replaced. This motor is a smogger. They never kicked out much power when they where new simply because emission laws where such to where they could not put a very high compression ratio in them. If the motor is worn out then you have a lot of options, Problem is none of them are cheap and your looking at spending at least 1000 to 3000 dollars to get it to where you will like the performance. but hey it's 300 bucks and these are a pretty nice looking car. I had a 79 zephyr that I beefed up the straight 6 on. It was putting 200 HP at the rear wheels when it was all said and done. Great performance with 6 cylinder mileage... Some things you may want to do if your looking for some quick performance is to junk the exhaust manifold on it and put in a good flowing tuned header. something that will split the 6 in to three. then channel dual exhaust out of it. Next see if you can locate a 4 barrel manifold that is 50 states legal. This should give you at least 30 more HP and the exhaust should yield a good 20 HP. Next if the motor is in good shape I would locate a good machine shop and have the head reworked for better air flow both in to and out of the head. Open the valves up about a 1/4 inch, put in some good springs and replace the cam with a high performance cam, RV cam is common on these Straight 6 engines. Keep in minds that these are not cheap. but they will give you some good performance out of it. if it's the V8 I would look at a crate motor from ford. they run around 2000 to 3000 for 350 to 400 HP models. most are 50 states legal.
