How do you raplace the rear break caliper on a ford focus?

i need to replace the back break caliper on my ford focus. How does it all go together. How do you raplace the rear break caliper on a ford focus? At many auto parts stores you can buy a Haynes do-it-yourself manual for your model car, with step-by-step instructions, and basic explanations at the beginning of each chapter. If it is not in stock, you can order it online by searching on "auto repair manuals" on Yahoo search. In the front is a section on "Troubleshooting" that guides you step-by-step to find causes of most engine malfunctions based on the car's symptoms. Whether you do the work yourself or not, it helps you make informed decisions and not be taken advantage of, and to not feel so "in the dark."

db667089 says: you can check http://www.alldatadiy.com. For about the same price as a Haynes or Chilton's repair manual, you can have online access (for a whole year) to model specific info for your particular vehicle. This is the same info that repair shops use. They have great wiring schematics/diagrams.

Also, for about $15 for a one-month subscription, you can get the factory manual, downloadable (careful! Mine was about 500 pages!) or viewable, at http://eAutoRepair.com.

Also, many people recommend autozone.com's free online manuals.

Be sure to go over the instructions several times, visualizing it in your head, and writing down all the tools, supplies (like rags, brake fluid, etc.), to be ready. ESPECIALLY note the chapter on safety in the front of the manual! Like using a brick or 2x4 to block the diagonally opposite wheel, have it in park, on a level surface (it can roll off the jack and land on the ground, then how will you lift it up to get the jack back under it?), use jack stands, etc. Don't take short cuts with safety items! You can get hurt!

That said, you can save a bundle by doing it yourself, and disc brakes are the easiest to work on.

MikeHow do you raplace the rear break caliper on a ford focus?Spend the $20 on a repair manual. Considering that you are asking this question , and that is a very important part of your safety I would sense that this maybe should be done by someone who is qualified, and not someone who is trying to learn auto repair over the internetHow do you raplace the rear break caliper on a ford focus?I agree with talon699,

Brakes are not something to learn about over the internet., You don’t want to compromise you and your families safety.

Even using an auto manual with many pics, can still give you a headache.

If you have a friend that knows about brakes, ask them if they would come to your aid and teach you how to do it right.

If not seek out a good shop, cost anywhere from $50.00 - $100 per axel ( that means drive side and pass side / either front or back wheels) to replace.

My philosophy / theory is , “I need to stop before I can go”.
