Will dual exhaust improve the gas mileage of my 90 ford f150 351 engine?

I have a 1990 ford f-150 w/ a 351 engine in it , will this or anything help to improve the gas mileage of this truck? Will dual exhaust improve the gas mileage of my 90 ford f150 351 engine? Some will tell you it will, but, if you have kept accurate gas mileage records and continue to do so after converting, you'll find that if it makes any difference it's so minute as to be worthless in recouping the cost of the conversion. Will dual exhaust improve the gas mileage of my 90 ford f150 351 engine?
No, dual exhaust will improve the flow, improve the exhaust gas scavenging, reduce the residual heat in the cylinder head. This results in more oxygen in the exhaust and more fuel to the injectors. You will get more power when you want it, a cooler running engine but gas mileage will worsen. Will dual exhaust improve the gas mileage of my 90 ford f150 351 engine?Depending on the engine, putting in a high flow intake (cheap on ebay, brand does not matter much) might get you some MPG. Installing new exhaust might help but you would need to do it cat-back and that is probably going to cost more then you'll end up saving. Engines actually need at least a little bit of backpressure in the exhaust to maintain vaccuum pressure. Really the best you can do on large engines is simply keep up with keeping filters clean (air and fuel), sparks plugs working properly (change every 30k miles or so), and accelerate slowly, lead footing is probably the #1 killer of fuel economy ;).Will dual exhaust improve the gas mileage of my 90 ford f150 351 engine?
No it wont give you better gas milageWill dual exhaust improve the gas mileage of my 90 ford f150 351 engine?Actually dual exhaust helps in making the engine less restricted with better exhaust flow. This is turn in most cases will improve performance and making the engine run more efficient. It also depends on the type of mufflers you run so a free flowing muffler will also help and a larger exhaust from 2 inch to 2 1/2 and sometime 3 inch pipes. Of course this all depends on what will mess with the emissions.

And don't forget things like better air flow into the engine such as new filter, better filters, K%26amp;N type systems can all help to a point. Of course once most people improve the performance of the vehicle it should help mileage, but more performance we use our foot more because we can.

There are lots of other things to improve also.
