Do you think Ford should step up and start making more prefomance based cars.?

I mean more along the line of Chevy has the SS badge, Dodge has the SRT badge, Pontiac has the GXP badge, Saturn has the red line badge. See what i am getting at? Ford had the Probe GT and that had some power. The focas started to be able to tune that but not anymore.Do you think Ford should step up and start making more prefomance based cars.?You are NOT up to your Ford lore...

SVT has been a long time part of Ford's enhanced performance line.

Features a Mustang, a F150 and a Ranger.

They also have the new EcoBoost engine:

In 2009, Ford first will introduce EcoBoost on the Lincoln MKS featuring a 3.5-liter twin-turbocharged V-6. It will produce the power and torque of a V-8 engine with the fuel efficiency of a V-6. In fact, with an estimated 340-horsepower and more than 340 lb.-ft. of torque, the Lincoln MKS will be the most powerful and fuel-efficient all-wheel-drive luxury sedan in the market.

The concept aims to highlight innovations tied to Ford鈥檚 systems approach, including a powertrain lineup that includes a 4-cylinder 2-liter engine with EcoBoost technology delivering 275 hp and 280 lb.-ft. of torque or, as a premium engine, a 3.5-liter V-6 delivering about 340 hp. Depending on engine selection, fuel-efficiency will improve by 20 to 30 percent versus today鈥檚 V-6 Explorer.

The 2010 SHO Taurus will yield 375 hp with a twin-turbo V6.

Whew....Do you think Ford should step up and start making more prefomance based cars.?
Ford is not on their knees begging for money from the government.

GM has worn the knees out of their pants and are still down there begging.

Chrysler is kneeling next to GM.

So, who has the better idea? Maybe Ford?Do you think Ford should step up and start making more prefomance based cars.?no. actually htey have the mustang, shelby... remember?

or perhaps the GT-500?

the ford lightning?

all brought to you by ford's SVT team.

actually what they need to do is bring the european focus here. there is a variant of the focus there that is such a great car it is crushing the subaru wrx sti and mitsubishi evo on the rally racing circuit. unfortunately they won't sell it in the US.

No I do not. The reason being Ford is the only north american builder that is not in as bad of shape finacialy as the others. This could be why. It takes alot of money to run a program like that. I think Ford learned there lesson back in the 60's with there stint in LeMans racing. They have other independant companys that they deal with, who invest there own money and time in improving an already good product. e.g.Shelby 500Do you think Ford should step up and start making more prefomance based cars.?The fact is, 95% of people buy a car for transportation as their #1 priority.

Whether you have 300 horses or 500 horses, realistically, people know you will never be able to legally use all of them in the USA unless cars are your life and you can take them to the track.

GM is doing absolutely terrible right now and part of the reason is that they duplicate the same car under different nameplates.

Dodge/Chrysler is in just as bad of shape.

I would much rather have a Ford Mustang Shelby or even a Mustang GT over any Saturn Red Line Badge.Do you think Ford should step up and start making more prefomance based cars.?
As long as Ford has the Mustang, they don't need anything else. It's fast and a great looking sports car. 2005-2009
