What kind of dealer warranty should i have on a ford focus head gasket?

Hi

I bought a Ford Focus 1.8 Ghia reg year 2000 6 months ago from a 'reputable' dealer and have just been told by a mechanic that the head gasket has blown, should the repairs be covered by the dealer under any kind of warranty? What kind of dealer warranty should i have on a ford focus head gasket?Once the manufacturers warranty has expired dealers usually give one months warranty on used cars unless you pay for a third party extended warranty.

It looks like you may have to pay for the repair. What kind of dealer warranty should i have on a ford focus head gasket?
when you bought the car did the sales man say it comes with 12th months parts and labour warranty, or a 6 or even 3, if not then your on your ownWhat kind of dealer warranty should i have on a ford focus head gasket?Head gaskets go all the time. Not that rare on a nine year old car.

After 6 months I doubt that the dealer knew of the fault and concealed it at the time.

If the dealer gave you a warranty for a period longer than 6 months, then you get it fixed under the warranty.

If no warrranty then you have to pay a bill of several hundred pounds.
I am afraid if it came without warranty you are on your own. You will have to prove that the gasket blew through no fault of yours eg oil low etc and not through fair wear and tear. What kind of dealer warranty should i have on a ford focus head gasket?Get a second opinion. Sometimes, you can repair a problem like this by having a competant technician re-torque your head bolts, one-at-a-time. Also, make sure that the space between your radiator and A/C condenser is show room clean and free from bugs, road dirt, leaves, and debris. This disrupts proper airflow and creates "hot" spots. Over-heating can be the result. Be sure to torque the head with the engine hot, and in sequence. Also, you might try replacing the head bolts, one-at-a-time, since they may have stretched. THis repair is far cheaper than doing a complete cylinder head servicing. Good Luck!!!What kind of dealer warranty should i have on a ford focus head gasket?
It is extremely unlikely that you would get a 6 month warranty on a 9 year old car and head gaskets are one of those things that can last the life of the car or go at any time. I have covered over 800,000m now and have never had a head gasket go on any of my cars. My present next door neighbour had the head gasket go both on his own Mondeo and his wife's corolla last year. As you have had the car for 6 months there would have been no indication at all when you got the car that the gasket was likely to fail. Unfortunately this is one of those components that though cheap enough themselves, involve a fair bit of labour time to change.
Check your receipt, should have done that 1st. Ask the selling dealer, your mechanic may be just short of work!!!What kind of dealer warranty should i have on a ford focus head gasket?
Probably not got a warranty unless stated otherwise. To cover the repairs yourself you would be looking at about 220 - 250 depending on what it needs. That's what I would charge anyway but i'm not too sure about a garage, maybe about 400 or something.

Let me know if you need anymore details (e-mail).
only be covered if they gave you a warranty with the car when you bought it, check your records.
no warranty
Simple question, did it come with a warranty? And what does the warranty cover? Time to read the paperwork, methinks . . .
