Where is the tran fluid dipstick located on a 2006 ford explorer?

I work for a security team at the local mall. We have a 2006 Ford Explorer that we use for vehicle patrol. Every morning we go out and do vehicle inspections however we have never been able to find the dipstick to check the transmission fluid. We've looked all over the engine trying to find the stick. I'm wondering if anyone knows where its at on this car. Help would would be great.Where is the tran fluid dipstick located on a 2006 ford explorer?According to page 312 of your digital owners manual ( http://www.motorcraftservice.com/pubs/co鈥?/a> ) there isn't one.

TRANSMISSION FLUID

Checking automatic transmission fluid

The automatic transmission does not have an underhood transmission

fluid dipstick.

Refer to your scheduled maintenance information for scheduled

intervals for fluid checks and changes. Your transmission does not

consume fluid. However, the fluid level should be checked if the

transmission is not working properly, (i.e., if the transmission slips or

shifts slowly) or if you notice some sign of fluid leakage.

Transmission fluid should be checked and, if required, fluid

should be added by an authorized dealer.

Do not use supplemental transmission fluid additives, treatments or

cleaning agents. The use of these materials may affect transmission

operation and result in damage to internal transmission components.

There is no way of checking automatic transmission fluid level on this particular vehicle. With the V6 engine, the fluid is drained/filled with what is called a two stage plug on the bottom of the transmission pan. To drain it requires removing the entire plug. To fill it, requires removing only the center portion of the plug, and using a plunger type dispenser, and running the vehicle to engine operating temperature. On models equipped with V8 engines, there is a fill plug, located on the right side of the transmission, but requires use of the Ford dedicated hook shaped filler tube to be used, during the fill process. The reason for this, is to prevent top ups of the wrong specification of fluid, in an effort by Ford Motor Company to reduce the number of transmission failure warranty claims, caused by incorrect fluid usage. Hope this helps.Where is the tran fluid dipstick located on a 2006 ford explorer?Sorry dude but the powers that be have finally claimed one more piece of our vehicles serviceability due to stupid people. yeah, in other words ford is sick of dumbasses pouring whatever they figure will work into the tranny then demanding it be a warranty fix when the tranny comes to a grinding halt 20 ft behind the truck and they have no idea what in the hell just happened, so they taketh the dipstick away.(well from the tranny anyways) I just don't get why they keep shovin them behind the steering wheel all the time ha ha. I think the fusion, taurus and the 500 are like that too now.Where is the tran fluid dipstick located on a 2006 ford explorer?
Is is automatic or manual shift? Manual shift transmissions wont have a dipstick. If its automatic, generally, it will be located close to the firewall on the passenger side but I would look at both sides just in case. I have an '03 Nissan and it took me a while to find it. It was located on the passenger side close to the firewall. GM also locates it in the same general vicinity. Good Luck!!Where is the tran fluid dipstick located on a 2006 ford explorer?I was told by the service manager at a Ford dealership that the new Explorers w/o a dip stick had to be changed at the dealership, especially if its under warranty, or it will void the warranty....the system is under pressure and they have to do it...thats all I know.Where is the tran fluid dipstick located on a 2006 ford explorer?
did you check the owners manual? some of the new ones don't have one, they use a special double plug in the tranny pan similar to a motorcycle's reserve fuel ....to only be checked by the dealer...
