How did the Ford Mustang impact the car industry?

I'm writing a paper about the Ford Mustang. I would like to include how it impacted the car industry and how it also impacted people. I have tried to look through books and the internet but i can't find a site that has something like that. The styling was the entire attraction at first - it had a look that was only seen in Italian cars before then. The idea you could have a Ford that looked like that was irresistible to young, hip, buyers.
