Is A 2000 Ford Ranger a dependable car for a 16 year old to drive?

I stumbled across a 2000 Ford Ranger pick up at a used car lot, i just drove by, but didnt check the mileage, but it was $2695.00. My questions are is this a good price, and would this be a relilable car for a 16 year old kid to drive to school everyday?Is A 2000 Ford Ranger a dependable car for a 16 year old to drive?I think it would be a great deal and a nice vehicle for your kid to drive.

I just sold my old 1991 F-150 here on Ebay for $1650.00

The truck had 150000 miles on it but no big problems,The rusty frame was the problem with my truck.

First, it's a truck, not a car. Second, it will get terrible gas milage so it will be expensive. Third, that new for so little, somethings up. Probably has a ton of miles. Fourth, Rangers don't have the best crash test rating. Fifth, it's a Ford. I think there are better trucks out there from better companies.

Generally, the Ranger is a reliable truck. However, at that age for any vehicle it really depends on how well the truck we maintained. I got a 98 a few months back (i'm 16) and it workes good. Just make sure that if it is a 4x4 the four wheel drive works b/c mine isn't engaging so it's really only 2 wheel drive.
