Shouldn't Ford step up and start making more performance cars and get into tuning?

Like Dodge has the SRT models, Toyota has some. But all Ford has is the Mustang GT. Well if you just slap the word sport on a ranger doesn't make it a customizable truck. The need to sell souped up models of what they got.Shouldn't Ford step up and start making more performance cars and get into tuning?Yeah they just need to step up period.

Dodge has the SRT, Toyota HAD some (Supra) now they just do hybrids. Ford has the GT40, but no one can afford that haha and the mustang isn't a performance car in my opinion anyway haha. Nissan can get 330+ hp from a 3.5 litre v6, but it takes Ford a 4.6 litre V8 to get 300? They really need to step it up!Shouldn't Ford step up and start making more performance cars and get into tuning?
For all the rest of the ford bashers. Ford is the only American auto maker who has not ask for bailout money from the Feds. Aftermarket upgrades are available for just about everything under the sun. It's all in how much money you want to spend. I have a 6.0 L powerstroke I'm working on. It's very sensitive to the electronics. Got to be careful when doing chip upgrades to any ford, especially the Diesels. Not planning on doing a lot to mine It has all the power I need for now. I do know some guys with lots more money than I have buy them strait off the lot and go to the drag strip with just a few cheap mods(Intake, Exhaust, Etc...).Shouldn't Ford step up and start making more performance cars and get into tuning? You are correct. They actually shut down their internal high-perf engineering department about 2 years ago. Stupid move. They have started back up again, but they have never taken seriously the need to have North American high performance car models other than version of the Mustang.

The market is out there if they'll go after it. SHO is coming soon, but will no longer be available with a manual, unfortunately.

I keep thinking about the 1987 Turbo Coupe. That is the perfect car for the times. Where is it now? They don't make anything but front wheel drive automatic rental cars.Shouldn't Ford step up and start making more performance cars and get into tuning?
Now is not a good time to come out with performance cars. With that said they have the SHO Taurus coming later this year with 350 HP from a Twin Turbo V6. The Ecoboost engine will also be put into the Ford Flex and the Lincoln MKS.

Toyota doesn't really have any souped up models beyond the TRD Tundra and the Lexus IS-F.

All of that high end performance tuning costs money, which Ford has precious little of. You should buy the car you want and customize it yourself, rather than expecting the manufacturers to do it for you.Shouldn't Ford step up and start making more performance cars and get into tuning?
there's no market right now, people are into economy cars now.
They do. Ford has SVT.
