How do I check the transmission fluid in my 1997 ford ranger.?
I just bought a 1997 ford ranger,with a manuel transmission.Automatic transmisions have a dipstick.How do I check the transmission fluid in my 1997 ford ranger.?There is a fill plug on the side of the transmission, remove plug and stick your finger in it, it it comes out with oil on it, you are good. If dry, add oil. It's the upper plug.How do I check the transmission fluid in my 1997 ford ranger.?Charlie is right. I would just drain and fill it with new fluid. It take about 2qt of ATF (automatic transmission fluid). Good choice would be synthetic fluid.
