i was wondering how good the ford transmissions are. i want to buy a ford psd and wonder what the best tranny is.Is the 2001 ford manual transimission or automatic transmission better? In general, how well the vehicle was cared for is more important that the type of tranny it has, especially in a vehicle that old.
Examine the maintenance records for the car. If the seller has no records, then take it to a mechanic for a complete "physical" before buying it.Is the 2001 ford manual transimission or automatic transmission better?THE MANUAL AND AUTO TRANMISSIONS FOR THE SUPER DUTY ARE BOTH GOOD. I DRIVE A 2000 SUPER DUTY AND HAVE A AUTOMATIC. THE TRANSMISSION FOR BOTH THE GAS AND DIESEL SUPER DUTIES IN AUTO ARE THE 4R100. THIS IS A VERY GOOD TRANSMISSION. I PULL A 10 TON TRAILER ON A REGULAR BASES AND HAVE NEVER HAD A PROBLEM WITH MINE. THE MANUAL TRANSMISSION FOR THE SUPER DUTY IS BUILT FOR THE SAME COMPANY WHO BUILTS THE MANUAL TRANSMISSIONS FOR BOTH CHEVROLET AND DODGE AT THAT TIME. THE MAUAL TRANSMISSIONS ARE ALSO VERY TOUGH AND CAN TAKE A LOT OF ABUSE. BOTH WOULD BE GOOD TO USE, BUT YOU HAVE TO LOOK AT WHAT YOU ARE GOING TO DO WITH THE TRUCK. EVERYDAY DRIVING, I WOULD CHOOSE A AUTO, HEAVY PULLING A MANUAL. BOTH WILL PULL JUST AS HARD AND JUST AS GOOD.Is the 2001 ford manual transimission or automatic transmission better?Well, the manual can get you slightly better gas mileage, and are usually more efficient. (dont have to deal with it slipping at all) but the automatics are just nicer i find. I dont see a need for a manual in a pick up truck, cause if you are driving a superduty, saving one mpg shouldnt matter that much to you haha.
