How do you turn off the headlights that stay on after you turn off a 2001 ford explorer?

When I turn my 2001 Ford Explorer off my running lights stay on for about 10 minutes and I really want to find a way to disble this feature. lock the car with a key fob usually turns it off b4 the ten min mark lol other than that i dont know you just gotta waste precious battery then lol sorry
