As said, my car is a 1997 Ford Explorer. It's driveable, given it needs some work considering its age. It's got about 250k on it, good condition. Any ideas? How much could I get for a 1997 Ford Explorer; trading in to a dealership for cash?A realistic retail price on that truck with the high miles is anywhere from $2000 to $3500 depending on the condition.
Trade in value at a dealership would be half of that...probably between $1000 and $2000.
You are much better off selling that truck yourself on autotrader.com, craigslist.com, ebay.com or your local newspaper. Putting a For Sale sign on the truck would help too.How much could I get for a 1997 Ford Explorer; trading in to a dealership for cash?

Between $1500.00 to $3000.00
Whichever way you go it will boil down to condition, and if they need to put a deal together with you. Truck market sort of stagnant as fuel is above $3.Tires, if ac blows cold, interior and exterior.
