I have recently purchased a laptop with windows vista installed. I tried to install games on it, but nothing works.
I shall take Age of Empires 3 for example. After installing it, and downloading the latest patch, it still refused to run, only showing the pop up which says "Age of Empires III requires at least a 64 MB video card. This computer appears to have a 0 MB video card".
Upon this, I'm given two options - first, to "Run Program" or "Exit". I try running it, but to no avail, another message pops up: "Initialization Failed. Direct3D initialization failed. Possible causes: Old or corrupted graphics driver. Direct3D improperly installed. Hardware acceleration disabled. Starting the application with the workstation locked. Please check the log file for more information.".
So, I've tried googling and found that perhaps I should prompt a dxdiag. And upon doing so, it gives me the following results:

The thing that worries me is that the DDraw, D3D, AGP status are all "Not Available" and there is no buttons whatsoever to enable or disable it. I have also tried checking my "device manager" (by right clicking on my computer %26gt; properties %26gt; device manager %26gt; display adapters)... which apparently shows 2 adapters (?) - ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3650 and the Standard VGA Graphics Adapter which was reported in the dxdiag.
I have read on some forums that perhaps installing the "latest drivers" would help... but basically, I'm a noob at all these things so if anyone can, please help out and tell me what's wrong with my computer or why it can't possibly ever load any gaming programs.
Thank you for all your help.DirectX Diagnostic: DirectX Features NOT AVAILABLE!?
Hi,
The first thing to do is contact the supplier of the laptop as they have not configured the display card correctly as it should have the on board graphics disabled and the Radeon as the main driver.
Alternatively, you can go into the control panel, display and see if you can disable the standard adapter, make sure the Radeon is listed and shown as working.
It should be if the pc has been built and configured correctly.

You need the graphics drivers. go to the manufacturer of your laptops site (http://consumersupport.lenovo.com/en/Dri鈥?/a> put in the model of your laptop and it will give a list of available drivers or better still try OPTION 3 their new beta smart downloading tool :)
