What do to about knee pain?

I've had knee pain for the past 2 1/2 years. It first started when i was playing in a softball game, and i was running..when i rounded the base, i felt a pop in my knee. i stopped for a minute, but then realized it was probably okay to go back in the game. The next pitch was thrown, and i started to run to third. I then realzied that I wasn't as okay as i thought. I couldn't walk after that, and I went to the doctors the next morning. They told me that my knee cap had shifted inwards and had gone back into place, but i tore a ligament and chipped a small piece of bone. They sent me to physical therapy for a few months, and i was put in an immobilizer and crutches for a few months. I was then down to just a knee brace. My knee was doing okay for a while, then I would have small random busts of pain and the occasional pop out of place, then it would go back in. I went back to physical therapy for a little, then to the doctors, and they said it was nothing to worry about. If it happened a lot more, and I had a lot of pain, I could need surgery. Surgery was definitely not the option iwas looking for. Mostly jumping, or an odd turn or twisting of the knee, or running triggers the popping out of the knee. THis hadn't happened fora while, and i thought i was doing alright. Then this morning i was taking a run, and my knee felt a shift. I walked the rest of the way home, and did my best not to cry because of the sudden pain. It hurts a little in the back, but a little on the sides also. It's not too bad if i limp on it, but if i turn or full out walk normally theres pain. I can't lift it, but the pain is definitely not as bad as when i first hurt it a few years ago. There is no swelling or redness, I was just wondering if anyone had any suggestions on how to possibly relieve this pain I'm having right now..? Thanks for reading! :)What do to about knee pain?
If the chipped bone has not been removed then its probably moving around also with torn knee ligaments you probably have been left with a week knee. but the only way to no for sure is to get it checked by a doctor.
I'm not sure of how to relieve your pain except for ice and meds. If you did tear a ligament in your original injury then it will most likely cause your knee to be unstable and more vulnerable to buckling and additional injuries such as torn cartilage and more torn ligaments. What do to about knee pain?
There is no way to relieve pain, you either fix the damaged tissue which is generating the signal or you live with it.

I would ask to see a physical therapist

If u did tear something my advice is to seriously look into surgery. I have two bad knees and with my experience the longer u wait the worse it can get. You can also look at eclectic therapy it works but its only temperary, and can't many visits b4 u feel a change. Hope u feel better knees problems are no joke.
