Running games on Vista, running slow. Any fixes or patches available?

I can run Pop Cap games from disc, after a fashion. Downloaded games run so slow you can't play them. Any help?Running games on Vista, running slow. Any fixes or patches available?
I used to get a lot of adware from popcap games. Try running a program like Ad-Aware to remove all those unwanted cookies.

You can also try the following:

- Defragment the hard drive

- Run msconfig by typing "msconfig" from the run prompt. You can also find it by typing msconfig and searching under help and clicking the link to start it. Once its running it allows you to disable all of the un used programs that run in the background to free up your memory.

- Under your browser go to tools %26gt; internet option and click delete cookies.

- Under the start menu, go to accessories %26gt; System tools. From here you can run disk cleanup and defrag.

Although the above can all be done manually, I started using Windows Live Onecare which does this all for me automatically every week. You can find any one of several tune-up programs online for a free trial that can do the same thing.
Vista uses a lot of the memory to run as i found out.

I upgraded the memory on mine from 512 mb ddr2

to 1024 mb ddr2.Going to make it bigger again soon.

The standard vista home basic computer (like mine was)

only runs 512 mb ddr2 and runs games really slowly or not

Depends on what games your wanting to run and how much RAM and video card you use. First check how much RAM (random access memory) is needed/recommended for the game. Then open your start bar and right click my computer and go to properties. It shows you there how much RAM you have and other computer specs.
Most of your downloaded games are not compatible with Vista yet. Its not the games' fault either, its pointless to get compatible with Vista because Vista SUCKS! Get XP, you won't have any problems, i swear.Running games on Vista, running slow. Any fixes or patches available?
disable your UAC... you'll get a huge burst of speed from your computer overall just by getting rid of that damned thing.... worst idea ever.
Ooh...buy a Mac.

Or downgrade to Windows XP at last resort.

Vista sucks:)
