.You should have an ultrasound done. X-rays check the status of the bones and joints but ultrasound will check the soft tissue, arteries and veins.
Use ice packs on them as many times a day as you can. Get those gel ones that stay soft so you can mold them around your knee cap and leave it for 20 mins.
There might be some arthritis starting as well.
Another thing you could try is having your gait checked. Perhaps an orthotic in your shoes would help.
In the meantime, of all the pain medications available, NSAIDS will probably give you the most relief
And do try the ice packs.............they're amazing!
Try therapy..maybe that'll helpI've had knee pain off and on for a year but it's been presistent the past 3 months?
Well, if there was nothing wrong, they wouldn't hurt.
Ice them, stay off of them as much as possible. Take IBUPROFEN for the swelling and inflammation. Two Excedrin for the pain. Take the meds twice a day for a week.
The more you strain and over work them the longer it will take for them to heal. So take two weeks to a month off from all of the sports activity so they can heal.
The steel hinged knee supports will help enormously. They get your body weight off of the joint and let it recover.
If you do not get them well now, they will be much worse when you are older. I am speaking from experience.
go to the doctors, they'll help.
i have knee issues too.

Have you not been as active lately? I had a similar pain and went to my doctor--I forgot what he called it, but basically my thigh muscles had weakened a bit and they weren't holding my knee cap in quite the right place. He told me to do exercises to strengthen my inner thighs--it worked!
