Why won't my VisualBoyAdvance (for MAC) Save/Battery State work?

I have VisualBoyAdvance for my MAC. I want to save my minish cap file, but whenever I play and try to save (any game for that matter) it always pops up with an error. Every...Single..Time.

Somebody please help to explain why this is happening and how I can fix it.Why won't my VisualBoyAdvance (for MAC) Save/Battery State work?
copy the file to your hard drive then duplicate it.

use the the duplicate and make sure the battery and save folders can be written.

under get info i dont see the area where i can make sure that the battery and save folders can be written...... TELL ME HOW TO DO THIS!!!!
